Personal Fitness Notes Essay †¢Why did you initially choose this diet? I chose this diet because it was recommended by a close friend of mines, who was also having trouble with his weight. I told me that the meals provided in the diet were really delicious and he was seeing an improvement. So I decided to give it a try. †¢What is the basic premise of this diet/eating plan? The premise of the diet was to help me lose weight with entrees and snacks that contained not so much calories. †¢What were two positive aspects of the diet? The positive aspects of the diet were that the food, which was sold as frozen entrees in supermarkets, was in fact amazing. †¢Were there any downsides to the diet plan? Explain. †¢Did you have success on this diet? I saw moderate success. It didn’t help me lose as much weight as I desired (I wanted to lose 50 pounds or more) but at least I shedded off a couple of pounds. †¢Are you still on the diet plan? I am not on the diet pan as of now. †¢Have you maintained your weight loss? Yes I have. I used to weigh 190 pounds and I’m at 173. †¢Do you feel the diet is safe? Why or why not? The diet is pretty safe because the caloric intake values are pretty decent and the meals are cost efficient. †¢Did you exercise while on the diet? I exercised here and there. I would go running a few times as well as bicycling. †¢Would you follow this diet plan again? Maybe, in the near future. Tell us what you think about the diet used by your interviewee. Explain your thoughts in a reflection paragraph. Compare the diet plan used by the interviewee with the Long Haul Approach that was explained earlier in the course. Which plan would you determine to be better? Please explain your choice. I think the diet was okay because she was able to purchase the meals for a low price instead of those other expensive diets. The Long Haul Approach would be a better diet since she didn’t exercise daily while on it. I believe that’s the reason why she didn’t lose as much weight she wanted to in the first place. The Long Haul Approach would’ve been a much more effective diet for her.

Lord of the Flies I chose to do one of my book reports on William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. The reason I chose this book is because it deals with many issues that are important to leading a solid Christian based life. It also deals with some issues that were talked about in class, for example discrimination, prayer and civilized behavior. The book starts out with Ralph and Piggy walking through the woods on what appears to be a deserted island. We are told that a plane transporting many young boys between the ages of 5 and 12 crashed on this island and these are the first two characters that we meet. Ralph and Piggy find their way out of the woods and onto a beach where they discover a conch shell that can be played as a horn. Ralph sounds this horn and shortly after a number of young boys emerged from the woods. It is now revealed that no adults are on the island and it is just the boys. They then decide to form a make shift government and piggy appoints Ralph to be the leader since he initiated the meeting. One boy named Jack, a member of a boy’s choir, protests the fact that Ralph was named the leader. So to please Jack, Ralph tells him that he will be in charge of hunting and gathering food, this along with teasing Piggy about his weight pleases Jack. The boys them split up and start to scope out the island and Jack organizes the first hunt, which is unsuccessful. As time goes on Ralph notices that many of the boys aren’t really doing any work and would rather be playing or sleeping instead, this worries him a little. He then goes out to explore the island with a choirboy named Simon, when they came back they called a meeting by signaling the conch. At this meeting Ralph sets up some basic rules. The main ones being that you can only talk at a meeting if you are holding the conch and that a fire must be keep going all the time on top of the mountain in case a ship passed by so that they could be rescued. The other boys like the ideas and rush up the mountain to start a fire. After they gather a bunch of firewood they realize that nobody can start a fire without matches. Piggy then suggests that they use the lenses of his glasses to spark a flame. The fire starts and gets a bit out of hand and Piggy thinks that one of the younger boys has been burned to death. All of the other boys laugh at Piggy and deny the incident. This is the first ... ...ll right. So we see how important parents are and how much they can influence their children. These boys were too young to be stranded alone and they couldn’t distinguish between right and wrong. I’m sure that as adults they would look back and see how hostile and evil they had become. Someone who has a similar view of this book is Kristian Moe who is a teacher in New York. I found this statement at www.malvik.no/engelsk/lordoftheflies.htm, he writes, â€Å"I feel that the book is very sad. In some ways it is even a little grotesque. It portrays human nature in its worst and darkest. It is very scary, and it makes me think about the world wars, and about Hitler’s racism and hatred. I can not believe that we have so many dark sides within us, but maybe we do.† In conclusion, I have to say that I enjoy this book because it is exciting and scary at the same time. I’m sure that everyone at one point in their life has dreamed of being on a deserted island, but I’m also sure that nobody would want their experience to be like the one we see in this book. Unless of course that have no sense of Christian values and are willing to subject themselves to that type of devilish behaviour.

Different people have different ambitions. I have many ambitions in my life. Some want to be rich. Some wish to become leaders of the country to gain honor. Some desire to be great scientists. There are others who are mainly led by a spirit of adventure. The latest craze among young boys and girls is to go to foreign countries. Their aim in life is to earn a lot of money within a short period. I am a human being. I too have my own ambition. My ambition in life is not wealth, power or high social status. I am too modest a young man to aim at any of these things. My ambitions are simple enough. My first ambition is the service of the poor and the down-trodden. My heart weeps at the sight of people in trouble. I do my best to help those who need my help. And what a joy it is to me to find that I have been of service to someone. Title: Camp X Author: Erik Walters Introduction: This book report discusses the plot, significant characters, setting (e.g., time of the story took place, historical background), problems and resolutions, themes or messages of the story. Plot: This story talks about 2 young teenagers during World War II are spending an exciting and intense wartime summer in Whitby. Almost 12 years, George and 14 years old, Jack, are having a make-believe war when they get caught by 2 guards and are asked to leave and not return. One day, they discover 4 men planting â€Å"clay† onto the bridge. George and Jack suspect that these 4 men are possibly some of the German Spy†¦show more content†¦Also, he is a very smart person as he says â€Å"mistakes are only mistakes if you don’t correct them†. This shows that he makes the camp better by asking the boys how they got in through the guards. Learning from his mistakes, he improves the guarding system throughout Camp X. Setting: The story takes place during 1942 during World War II. In Whitby, Ontario, the setting takes place near Colbert’s Creek that leads to Camp X. Camp X is a secret spy training camp that trains Canadians as spy’s to fight at Germany during the World War II. Camp X is a restricted camp that is put near a forest and also has a giant tower for training for spies to parachute. Camp X is one of the many places that Germans attempt to sabotage. Camp X is a 17 acre park named after the British Security Coordination (Intrepid Park). The water in Colbert’s Creek is somewhat warm and purified. This shows, the pollution rate of the lake between the camp is quite low and is purified. Problems, Challenges: One of the major problems George and Jack encountered had a positive and negative impact on both of them. Firstly, as George and Jack were playing make-believe war, they encountered a highly restricted camp in which they got caught. They were escorted home and asked never to return.
